Primary Care Physiotherapy - Self Referral

Patients aged over 16 are now able to self-refer for physiotherapy if they have any of the following problems:-

Soft tissue injuries (e.g. sprains or strains)...
Joint pain (e.g. arthritis)
Muscular pain (e.g. repetitive strain injury)

It is no longer necessary for patients aged over 16 to see a GP to be referred for physiotherapy for the above type of complaint. Please contact the Physiotherapist Admin Team direct on 01443 715012.

Conditions requiring physiotherapy but NOT appropriate for self referral:-

Pregnancy related pain
Women’s Health
Paediatrics
Respiratory
Neurological
Domiciliary
Frail elderly requiring multidisciplinary team

Please contact the surgery in the usual way on 01443 404444.

This new service, along with others (e.g Common Ailments Service, Welsh Eye Care service, Minor Injuries Unit) is being implemented to ease the pressure in General Practice and free the GP up to deal with the issues they should be dealing with.
